Ingredients & Health Benefits:

  • Matcha, a finely ground powder of specially grown green tea leaves, is packed with antioxidants that help protect your cells from damage. It also contains L-theanine, an amino acid known to promote relaxation and reduce stress without drowsiness. Potential benefits of regular consumption of matcha include improved brain function, heart health, and even weight management.
  • Rose water adds a delicate floral sweetness and a subtle aromatic complexity to this rose matcha latte, enhancing both flavor and fragrance and creating a relaxing sipping experience.
  • Unlike refined sugar, maple syrup offers trace amounts of minerals like manganese and zinc, and boasts antioxidants that may help protect cells from damage. It also has a lower glycemic index, meaning it causes a slower rise in blood sugar compared to refined sugar.
  • I like to use whole milk for this latte both for the creamy consistency and because dairy products are rich in tryptophan. Tryptophan is an amino acid that is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that plays a key role in mood regulation.
  • If you are sensitive to dairy, I love this drink with cashew milk too as a dairy-free alternative that still offers plenty of health benefits. Cashew milk is also smoother than other plant based milks and a good source of heart-healthy unsaturated fats, protein, and several vitamins and minerals. The flavor also pairs beautifully with the rose water in this rose matcha latte.

How to make a hot Rose Matcha Latte:

  • Using a chasen (or whisk), whisk the matcha powder and hot water together until well combined and smooth.
  • Add in the culinary grade rose water and pure maple syrup then whisk again until well combined.
  • Froth the milk in a heated milk frother. Alternatively, you can froth the milk with a handheld frother while heating it in a saucepan on the stove.
  • Pour the hot, frothed milk over the rose matcha and enjoy!

How to make it iced:

  • Using a chasen (or whisk), whisk the matcha powder and hot water together until well combined and smooth.
  • Add in the culinary grade rose water and pure maple syrup then whisk again until well combined.
  • Fill a glass with ice and the milk, then pour the rose matcha latte mixture over the top and stir to combine. Top with whipped cream or milk foam or enjoy it as is!

Savor the delightful flavors and health benefits of this rose matcha latte. It’s the perfect smooth and refreshing beverage to start your day or enjoy as an afternoon pick-me-up.
