Banana Bread Recipe

This banana bread recipe just might be the easiest bread recipe that I have ever made. It is so simple and practically impossible to mess up. Plus, in my opinion, nothing is quite as satisfying as warm banana bread topped with salted butter.

Ingredients

3 Medium Ripe Bananas- It seems like everyone searches for banana bread recipes when they already have bananas going bad. If you don’t have very ripe bananas though, and you are like me and just randomly crave banana bread, you can speed up the ripening process by placing whole bananas (in their peels) in the oven at 350 for about 5 minutes.

1 Large Egg

2 Tsp Vanilla

1/3 Cup Salted Melted Butter

1/2 Cup White Sugar

1/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar

1/2 Tsp Baking Soda- Make sure that you use baking soda for this recipe and not baking powder.

1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour

A Pinch of Salt

A Dash of Cinnamon – Just a little bit of this gives so much depth to the banana bread.

How to Make Easy Banana Bread

When I said that this recipe was easy, I mean really, really, easy. Technically, I guess you could say that there is a correct way to make this batter, (and then there is also my way). I have yet to find a difference in the finished product between the two, but for the sake of full instructions I will walk through both. Both methods are really so simple.

The Standard Method to make Banana Bread-

Step 1

Mash your bananas and set aside. Preheat your oven to 350 and prep a baking loaf with cooking spray.

Step 2

Whisk the egg with the vanilla, white, and brown sugar. Then, add the melted butter.

Step 3

Combine the flour with baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Slowly add the flour mixture into the wet batter until well combined.

Step 4

Fold in the previously mushed banana and pour batter into a prepared baking loaf. Bake for 45-55 minutes. Let cool on a baking rack for 10 minutes and then serve warm.

The Easiest Banana Bread Method

Just to preface this- I am definitely not a baker and my mother would probably cringe if she knew that I bake this way BUT I have tried this recipe so many times both the correct way and my way and I can confidently tell you that even my (slightly picky) family can’t tell the different in the banana bread. So, if you are someone who uses the fewest amount of dishes possible and prefer the easiest method, this one’s for you.

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 and prep a baking loaf with non-stick spray.

Step 2

Grab a large bowl and a fork or whisk. I’ve found that a metal whisk works so well for mashing the bananas. Begin with placing all three bananas in the bowl and mash them up.

Next, add all of the remaining ingredients to the bowl. Any order. Whatever you feel like. It is a little wild and reckless but it’s efficient and nobody has to know! It just doesn’t get any easier than this in my opinion.

Step 3

Pour you Banana Bread Batter into a baking loaf and bake for 45-55 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes on a baking rack and then serve warm.

Ingredients

  • 3 Medium Ripe Bananas

  • 1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour

  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda

  • 1 Pinch Salt

  • 1 Dash Cinnamon

  • 1/2 Cup White Sugar

  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar

  • 1 Whole Egg

  • 2 Tsp Vanilla

  • 1/3 Cup Salted Melted Butter

Directions

  • Mash your bananas and set aside. Preheat your oven to 350 and prep a baking loaf with cooking spray.
  • Whisk the egg with the vanilla, white, and brown sugar. Then, add the melted butter.
  • Combine the flour with baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Slowly add the flour mixture into the wet batter until well combined.
  • Fold in the previously mushed banana and pour batter into a prepared baking loaf. Bake for 45-55 minutes. Let cool on a baking rack for 10 minutes and then serve warm.

Notes

  • Butter can be subbed out for Vegetable Oil.
  • 1/2 Cup of Walnuts can be added for more texture.
  • An 8×4 or 9×5 baking loaf can be used. An 8×4 will give you a taller slice of bread.
  • Start checking the center of the banana bread in the oven with a toothpick after 45 minutes. If the toothpick doesn’t come out clean, add 5 more minutes and test again. It should be done baking by 55 minutes.
