Holiday Spice Flat White

The one coffee drink that I would count down to was the Starbucks Holiday Spice Flat White, which has sadly been discontinued so over the years. I have tried to recreate their recipe and finally landed on one that tastes like the real thing. This delightful coffee combines the richness of espresso and whole milk with the comforting flavors of seasonal spices, creating the perfect festive drink if you aren’t a fan of peppermint or pumpkin.

Holiday Spice Flat White Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 Shots of Espresso (I use the Altissio Capsules from Nespresso) – you can use any espresso for this drink but regular coffee won’t work.
  • Whole milk – since flat whites are made with whole milk, that is the milk that I stick with for this recipe. It adds creaminess to the Holiday Spice Flat White that 2% and Fat Free just didn’t
  • Ground Cinnamon– 1/4 tsp
  • Ground Cloves – 1/4 tsp
  • Ground Nutmeg – 1/4 tsp
  • Fresh orange zest – 1/4 tsp, the dried orange zest leaves a bad texture and doesn’t offer much flavor in my opinion. Make sure you use it fresh and very finely grated.
  • Brown Sugar – 1 tablespoon

How to make the Holiday Spice Flat White

Create your spices: In a small bowl combine the spices, orange zest, and sugar together.

Brew the espresso: Brew 2 shots of espresso over the spice mix. If you are using espresso that is refrigerated, heat the espresso first and then pour over the spice mix and stir to combine well.

Prepare your milk: In a milk frother or with a whisk and a hot saucepan, whisk the whole milk until hot and foamy.

Pour your milk: Pour the foamed milk slowly in the center of the cup to create that white dot that Starbucks’ Flat Whites are known for.

Topping: Sprinkle with a little bit of cinnamon and enjoy your Starbucks Holiday Spice Flat White Copycat!
