This recipe packs a punch with a Coffee Protein Shake that’s every bit as healthy as it is tasty. We’re ditching the burnt coffee and chalky protein powder for a smooth blend of cold brew coffee, a perfectly frozen banana for natural sweetness and texture, a touch of nutty almond butter for healthy fats and fuel, and rich chocolate protein powder to keep you feeling satisfied all morning and help you meet your protein requirements. It’s the perfect pick-me-up for busy mornings or as a post-workout refuel – and it’s ready in under 5 minutes!
Ingredients:
Cold Brew / Coffee – not only adds a smooth coffee flavor to this coffee protein shake, but also packs a punch of caffeine to keep you alert and energized through your morning or afternoon.
Frozen Banana (sliced) – adds a small dose of healthy carbs that can be quickly used as energy for your body: perfect for a post-workout refuel. The frozen banana also adds a creamy texture for this coffee protein shake without chunks of ice or the added calories of icecream.
Almond butter – 1 tbsp of almond butter adds essential healthy fats to this coffee protein shake and also adds a nutty flavor that complements the chocolate protein.
Chocolate Protein Powder – Isopure Chocolate Whey Isolate taste the best in this smoothie in my opinion (and believe me when I say I’ve tried ALL of them) but feel free to sub this with your favorite chocolate protein powder! If you’re looking for a plant based protein powder or dairy free option instead of whey, I really like Ka’Chava’s Chocolate protein in coffee protein shakes too.
How to make a coffee protein shake:
This is so easy, you can do it at 5am or 3pm with very little effort or time. This recipe is a beautiful one-step coffee protein shake recipe…
- Combine the Cold brew / chilled coffee, frozen banana, almond butter, and chocolate protein powder to a blender and blend until smooth. For added thickness, throw in a few ice cubes before blending.
I’ve been making this recipe for years as a post-workout shake. I hope you love this super simple recipe as much as I have!
